URBAN ENVIRONMENTS / POPULATION HEALTH

Urban environments & health

Connecting urban environments, environmental exposures, and population health.

Published research

Research questions

How do urban green space, air quality, and the long-term effects of urban planning and housing policies relate to population health?

Approach

My research combines geospatial analysis, environmental exposures, human mobility data, and population health measures. Projects include mobility-based tree-canopy exposure and cardiovascular health, alongside studies of historic housing policies and contemporary health outcomes.

Why it matters

Understanding these relationships can help planners and researchers evaluate the health implications of urban environments while informing decisions about green infrastructure and neighborhoods.
